Prices showed firmness on the cotton market on Tuesday amid rising demand by mills and spinners, dealers said. The official spot rate was unchanged at Rs 6,700, they said. Cotton market: Prices decline further

The spot rate fell sharply for the second day due to strong arrivals of seed cotton, dealers on the cotton market said on Thursday. The official spot rate dropped sharply by Rs 150 to Rs 6,600. Prices of seed cotton per 40 kg in Sindh was down by Rs 150-100 to Rs 2650-2850 and in Punjab rates were lower by Rs 200-50 to Rs 2600-2900. In the ready session, prices also slid by Rs 100 as about 12,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 6600-6800, they said.

Cotton production remains lower
RAHIM YAR KHAN - The figures of cotton production in Pakistan and India have been issued by Cotton Ginners Associations of both the countries, which showed that total domestic cotton production remained lower than previous year in both the countries.

Cotton arrival declines

Cotton arrival declined by some 2 percent during the current crop season. Overall domestic arrival of seed cotton (phutti) up to December 15, 2012 stood at 10,768,861 bales as compared to 11,036,018 bales in the same period of last year, depicting a decline of 267,157 bales.
