Islamabad(AFP)- Pakistan was plunged into darkness after a breakdown of a key power transmission line in the southern part of the country early today, another blinding reminder of the country's crippling energy crisis.

ISLAMABAD: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) hydel power stations delivered more electricity during 2014 as compared to year 2013 and contributed 31.289 billion units to the national grid system.
Offical sources told APP here," WAPDA contributed 31.289 billion units of hydel electricity in 2014 as compared to 30.903 billion units in year 2013. This represents an increase of 386 million units".

October 23, 2012: Federal government has allocated about Rs 13.78 billion for 4500 MW-Diamer-Basha Dam Project during the fiscal year 2012-13. The project is being implemented on priority basis.
