Importers have bought about 60,000 tonnes of soybeans to be sourced from Brazil and are in talks about purchasing 60,000 tonnes of US soybeans, European traders said on Thursday. The Brazilian soybeans are for Mar. 15 to Apr. 15 shipment, they said. The US soybeans would be for shipment from the US Gulf between Mar 20 to Apr. 20, they said.

In December 2014, Pakistani importers bought about 50,000 tonnes of soybeans from the United States, an unusual transaction that could signal a move away from canola and soymeal buying to more soybean imports. “It looks like the trend toward more Pakistani soybean imports is continuing,” one trader said. Pakistan made no reported soybean imports in the calendar year 2013 or in the first five months of 2014, according to the US Department of Agriculture website.
