SIALKOT(APP): About 2.5 million acres of land has been brought under wheat crop during Rabi crop season in Gujranwala division.

Agriculture Department official on Saturday told us, the process of wheat sowing has been completed in various districts of the division while the Agriculture department has finalized arrangements in the division to achieve the targets of wheat crop.

The Agriculture department was extending full assistance and guidance to the wheat growers for attaining better output and enhancing the wheat crop acreage, he added.

The department had launched a training programme for wheat growers to create awareness about proportionate use of fertilizers for getting better yield of the crop, techniques of irrigation to the crop, the official said.

He said that wheat would be cultivated over 0.5 million acres of land in Sialkot district. The tehsil wise break-up of wheat cultivation was as in Daska 116,000 acres, 74,000 acres in Sambrial and 167,000 acres Pasrur.

The official said more than 40,000 farmers of 1,442 villages of Sialkot district had already been imparted training about modern wheat production techniques, utilization of fertilzer and pesticide aimed at attaining maximum per acre wheat yied in four tehsils of the district while 45 agriculture experts were visiting village for creating awareness about obtaining maximum output of the crop.
