Import of palm oil dipped by over 10 percent to $1.528 billion in July-April 2013-14, according to official statistics. The country’s import of palm oil reduced by $172 million during July-April 2013-14 as compared to its import of $1.700 billion in the same period last fiscal year, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) says.
The volume of palm oil posted a fall of 0.085 million tons (0.06 percent) to 1.848 million tons in July-April 2013-14 from the commodity’s import of 1.763 million tons in the same period of last fiscal year, the PBS indicates. Import of soyabean oil mounted by $22.685 million (35.25 percent) to $79.366 million in July-April 2013-14 from $56.681 million in the same period last fiscal year, the PBS says. In term of quantity, import of soyabean oil surged by 32,546 metric tons (70 percent) to 79,159 metric tons in July-April 2013-14 as compared to the commodity’s import of 46,613 metric tons in the same period of last fiscal year, the official figures say.
