The country’s bill on palm oil import declined by 11.41 percent to $1.367 billion in July-March 2013-14, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) says. Palm oil import slid by $176 million during July-March 2013-14 as compared to the oil import of $1.543 billion in the same period last fiscal year, the PBS indicates. The volume of palm oil import fell by 139 metric tons (0.01 percent) to 1,661,990 metric tons in July-March 2013-14 from 1,662,129 metric tons in the same period last fiscal year, the figures suggest.

Import of soyabean grew by $8.785 million (18 percent) to $57.914 million in July-March 2013-14 as compared to oil import of $49.129 million, the PBS says. In term of quantity: Import of soyabean oil went up 18, 068 metric tons by (46 percent) to 56,641 metric tons in July-March 2013-14 from 38,573 metric tons in the same period last fiscal year, according to the PBS statistics.
