Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) witnessed an exceptional serge in volume on Wednesday. Total value of trade spiked by 196 per cent to PKR5,693 million from PKR1,921 million recorded on Tuesday. Number of lots traded also jumped to 18,548 from 8,394. PMEX Commodity Index went up by 0.17 per cent to 3,211.
Major business was contributed by crude oil amounting PKR4,332 million, followed by gold (PKR1,191 million) and silver (PKR170 million). The largest increase was registered in crude oil volume to PKR4,332 million from PKR318 million and there was 21 per cent decline in gold volume recorded at PKR1,191 million from PKR1,506 million.
