Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Livestock Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad has directed the departments concerned to ensure provision of quality meat at government prescribed rates. He also called for keeping a watchful eye on water injected and other harmful chemicals adulterating meat and illegal slaughtering of animals.
Arshad Jutt was presiding over a departmental meeting on Thursday regarding provision of quality meat to the people. The meeting evolved a strategy for providing quality meat to the people in line with the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Arshad Jatt said that provision of quality meat at the rates fixed by district government should be ensured in all districts of Punjab, adding that a watchful eye should be kept on water injected and other harmful chemicals adulterated meat and illegal slaughtering of animals. He said that district livestock officer and slaughter house in-charge would be responsible of it.
Special Assistant said strict action would be taken against the concerned veterinary doctor and District Livestock Officer on the complaint of adulterated and illegally slaughtered meat. He said that concerned officers and officials of district government should cooperate with veterinary doctors of Livestock Department so that quality meat could be provided to the citizens.
Arshad directed that in-charge of slaughter house should carryout post-mortem of animals according to Animals Slaughter Control Act so that sick and weak animals could not be slaughtered. He directed that strict legal action should be taken against the butchers slaughtering animals other than slaughter house. Meanwhile, Dr Muhammad Nawaz Saeed Director General (Extension), Dr Israr Hussain Chaudhry Director Communication & Extension, Dr Ghulam Hussain Bhutta District Livestock Officer Lahore, Dr Muhammad Ashraf Personal Staff Officer, Dr Qurban Hussain Director Planning & Evaluation and other officers were also attended the meeting.
