Monitoring of de-silting process ordered: PIDA

pidaProvincial Minister for Irrigation and Chairman PIDA Mian Yawar Zaman has directed senior officers and field staff of Irrigation Department to continuously monitor the process of de-silting so that targets of this important campaign could be achieved. He stated this talking with 20-member delegation of representatives of different farmers’ organisations at his residence, here on Sunday. Officers of Irrigation and PIDA were also present on the occasion.

The Minister said that de-silting is an important national campaign which leaves a positive impact on agriculture sector. He said that the staff of Irrigation Department will take an active part in the process of de-silting and participation of farmers’ community will also be ensured to achieve the targets of this campaign. He said that modern machinery is being utilised for this purpose. He said that de-silting is important as it helps restore the canals in their original condition besides availability of canal water at tail ends. The Minister said that farmer organisations set up under PIDA have also been directed to ensure participation of their members in the de-silting campaign for the benefit of the whole country.
