UVAS observes World Rabies Day

LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animals Sciences (UVAS) Lahore’s Vets Care Club observed World Rabies Day with the theme “Rabies – Understand it to Defeat It” by arranging vaccination camps, a seminar and a walk.
The day began with an anti-rabies awareness walk led by Dean Biosciences Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Dr Zarfishan Tahir from the Institute of Public Health and Vets Care Club Patron Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani. A large number of teachers and students participated in the walk.
Later addressing the participants of a seminar titled “Rabies – A global threat to Humans & Animals”, Dr Zarfishan spoke about various aspects of rabies disease, its prevention and categories of wounds.
Dr Aneela cautioned those students and professionals working in clinics and labs to take preventive measures against the occupational diseases.
A vaccination camp was arranged at the UVAS Outdoor Clinic where students and faculty members were vaccinated against rabies for free.
Earlier on Saturday, a Rabies Vaccination Camp was also arranged for pets at the Pet Center, where pets were vaccinated against the rabies disease.
