Commissioner, Hazara Division, Abid Ali Khan has warned that on any complaint regarding timber smuggling and illegal cutting of forests beside smugglers the FIR would also be registered against Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and other subordinates of the department.
He issued these warnings while presiding over a meeting of the district heads of the government departments in Battagram on Saturday. Those who attended the meeting included District Police Officer (DPO), Assistant Commissioners (ACs) and district heads of all provincial and federal departments. Abid Khan also warned that in case of substandard construction work of development schemes, the matter would be referred to National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He said that at district level departments for their services and performance would be responsible to Deputy Commissioners, saying negligent, corrupt officers would be sent back to their homes.
He said that completion of 341 reconstruction and rehabilitation schemes in the earthquake affected district Battagram would be completed through the national building departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He further said that federal government would be asked for taking immediate and stern action against Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) for failing in direct power supply from grid station to District Headquarters Hospital, Battagram and prevention of power pilferages.
Deputy Commissioner Battagram, Captain Mian Adil Iqbal (Retd) briefed the meeting regarding development activities in the district, administrative strategy, challenges that education, health and other sectors, government departments face. He also briefed on situation of the provision of basic amenities, implementation of different directives of the chief minister regarding price control, prevention of timber smuggling, forest conservation, prevention of spurious medicines, municipal services, encroachments, monitoring of government departments, law & order and matters relating to WAPDA.
Abid Khan strictly directed both district administration and police for showing zero-tolerance to anyone for forest cutting and timber smuggling without considering his influence.
He clarified that as the present government and people of the province desire to bringing realistic change. Therefore, he said the administration should guarantee attendance in all public sector offices, schools, hospitals and staffers of other departments. He also said that the provincial government has evolved a monitoring system for getting information regarding real performance of the departments. He said that with the promulgation of Right to Information (RTI) law all kind of irregularities and corruption will be unveiled. Courtesy Business Recorder
