Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) President Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan has welcomed the government announcement of fixing electricity tariff for agriculture sector at Rs 10.50 per unit inclusive of sales tax, waiving off fine on non-paid electricity bills and facility to payback the outstanding dues in 10 instalments.
In a statement issued on Friday, he termed the decision as farmer-friendly leading to positive impacts on the agriculture sector. He appreciated the personal efforts made by the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. Congratulating both, the KBP Central Chief also urged the government to ensure immediate compensation to the havoc played by the floods in different districts to growers and the crops. He said that the government should waive off abiana and ensure immediate provision of free of cost fertilisers and seeds to the growers. Courtesy Business Recorder
