Taiwan buys US wheat

The Taiwan Flour Millers’ Association has purchased 101,500 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in a tender which closed on Thursday, European traders said. The tender had sought shipment in September and October.

The purchase comprised a first consignment of 32,050 tonnes of dark northern spring wheat of 14.5 protein bought at $343.98 a tonne fob, 11,850 tonnes of hard red winter of 12.5 percent protein bought at $330.35 a tonne fob and 11,850 tonnes of western white with 9 percent protein bought at $291.44 a tonne fob. The first consignment is for shipment between September 28 and October 12 from the US Pacific North West coast and was sold by Mitsui. The consignment has an ocean freight charge of $29.10 a tonne.
