Call for taking benefit of latest research in agriculture

Punjab Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed has called for taking benefit of latest research in the field of agriculture to win a place for Pakistani products in the international market and competing with other global players. He said the provincial government was striving to provide latest research at the door steps of the growers so they can take benefit of it.
Dr Farrukh Javed was talking to a delegation of the Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB) which called on him here on Tuesday. The delegation was led by the PARB Chief Executive Dr Mubarak Ali who briefed the minister about performance of his institution.
PARB Chief Executive Officer told the Minister that his organisation was working on a project worth Rs 188 million for increase in the yield of wheat and saving stored wheat from the attack of different pests. While it is also spending a huge amount of Rs 121 million on different research projects on cotton and Rs 121.4 million on enhancing production of rice through minimum utilisation of water.
Dr Farrukh Javed apprised the delegation of the vision of the provincial government and said it wanted to give a new recognition to the province in the agricultural sector through latest research. He said researchers had to work with a missionary zeal for the development of agricultural sector and assured all out help from government in that regard. Courtesy Business Recorder
