Meteorologists on Thursday urged farmers to follow weather advisories to avoid problems during harvests. The Met Office issued its 10-day weather advisory for farmers, urging them not to harvest during rains to avoid yield loss.

“Farmers of lower half of the country are advised to prepare the fields for the coming Kharif crops in time,” the advisory issued by the Met Office said, adding that growers of lower half (of the country), including Southern Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, should complete cotton sowing at the earliest to fully utilise the existing soil moisture. Mainly hot and dry weather was forecast for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next 10 days. The Met Office, however, said, rains and thunderstorms “may hit upper parts of both provinces on May 5 and May 6”. Source Business Recorder
