Wheat rates start surging in open market

KARACHI: Wheat rates have started surging in the open market in the wake of speculations of expected inter-district ban on its movement in the province.
The wheat rates have increased from Rs 2,900 per 100 kilogrammes (kgs) to Rs 3,050 per 100 kgs, reflecting an increase of Rs 150. Wheat was earlier available to buyers at Rs 2,900 per 100 kilogrammes (kgs) bag, which is Rs 100 less as compared to the official rates of Rs 3,000 per 100 kgs.

Leading farmer backs Commonwealth support package

Western Australia's biggest grain grower has called on the State Government to match the Commonwealth's agriculture funding package.
Farmers in WA will be able to apply for low interest loans of up to $650,000 under a $60 million plan announced by the Federal Treasurer yesterday.

‘Foreigners are free to engage in poultry farming’

THE Poultry Association of Zambia (PAZ) executive manager Mathews Ngosa has said there is no law in Zambia which prevents foreign nationals from engaging in poultry farming.
Mr Ngosa’s remarks come in the wake of concerns raised by some local poultry farmers on the influx of Chinese nationals engaging in the poultry industry.
