Karachi: Some 150 camels, majority of them female, of ‘superior breed’ of Pakistan were exported on Tuesday to Dubai, UAE, via a chartered aircraft from Karachi Airport, allegedly without due permission from the government agencies and other concerned authorities.
A spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed the exportation of camels around 5pm. He said Boeing 747 aircraft was used for the livestock consignment.
He said the CAA’s role was limited to giving landing and take-off permissions, while the Customs, Anti-Narcotics Force, and other agencies were responsible for exportation of livestock, which should have been given prior to the CAA’s go-ahead for take-off. He said that the chartered aircraft landed at the airport the same day. Source The News
