ROXBURY — The Roxbury Land Trust will sponsor a free lecture on backyard organic farming at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Town Hall, 29 North St.

Dina Brewster, owner of The Hickories, an organic farm in Ridgefield, will offer tips and techniques for starting and sustaining organic gardens and food plots.

The Hickories farm has been in the Brewster family for 76 years. The organic farm provides vegetables, fruits, flowers, wool, meat and other farm products for the community and surrounding area through a Community Supported Agriculture program and roadside farm stand, as well as local markets and restaurants.

The Roxbury Land Trust has been active in preserving more than 800 acres in Roxbury and Woodbury in recent years through the acquisition of three major farms.

The scenic Good Hill Farm Preserve, Orzech Family Farm Preserve and Gavel Family Preserve now offer local farmers crop and pasture land, as well as access to the public in designated areas for hiking, cross-country skiing, birding and other activities.

Those seeking additional information about the event may call 860-350-4148 or visit www.roxburylandtrust.org. Source Voices News
