PARC for activating research associations to promote agri sector

ISLAMABAD: Research associations in scientific institutions have been playing an important role in promoting scientific research and development activities to help bring social and economic prosperity in a society.

This was stated by the Chairman Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC), Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad while addressing the oath taking ceremony of Pakistan Agriculture Research Scientists Association (PARSA) here on Friday. The PARC Chairman called upon the agri scientist to prepare a work plan based on long, medium and short term strategies to move forward for the agricultural development in the country.

He stressed the need for ensuring collection of quality information for conducting research and influencing the polices to promote livestock and agri sector in the country. He appreciated the role of out going association for creating and enabling environment for conducting the research activities in the institution.

The newly elected president of PARSA, Dr Tariq Hassan assured that the association will continue its efforts to promote the scientific research and disseminate knowledge at the door steps of farmers. He also urged for implementing the decisions of the board of governors in which the research scientists were promoted but it was still waiting for implementation. Dr. Altaf Sher, Mr. Falak Naz and Mr. Anwar (Secretary General) also addressed on the occasion.
