Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the federal and provincial governments to increase quota of wheat for flour mills to control flour prices and make room in the godowns of the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (Passco) and provincial food departments for the coming wheat crop.
KBP Central President Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan in a statement issued on Wednesday claimed there was a need for controlling the ever increasing price of flour in the country. For this purpose, he proposed to increase the quota of wheat for the flour mills. He regretted that two years old wheat was laying in the godowns of Passco and provincial food departments. Government failed to export this surplus grain due to its wrong policies and now it was creating artificial flour crisis by reducing the wheat quota of the flour mills, he alleged.
