LAHORE: (December 18, 2012): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (SBBUVAS) Sakrand, Sindh, inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen teaching, research and professional services at par with international standards.

The MoU was signed by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and SBBUVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jaimal Dhanani at Syndicate Room. The primary purpose of this memorandum of understanding is to engage both institutions in collaborative and co-operative efforts for academic pursuits. The major areas of collaboration include development of curricula, on-line education through video conference and joint symposia for uplift of the veterinary education in the province of Sindh.

SBBUVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jaimal Dhanani said that the UVAS would provide capacity building training programmes for faculty members as well as non-teaching staff. He lauded the UVAS’s leading role in contributing to the agro-economy and making utmost efforts to uplift the livestock sector in the country.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that Pakistan was rich in livestock treasure and “we could improve the national economy by developing this wealth.” He said that the university would provide all-out technical support to the infant SBBUVAS and make sincere efforts to uplift the level of veterinary education at par with international institutions.
