New SAP for agriculture

The superabsorbent polymers that have been combined with nonwovens to make today’s absorbent hygiene products so effective are being extended to agricultural use.
From 2013, Polykem SARL, a self-financed spin out from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHL), located in Lausanne, Switzerland, aims to produce 50,000 tons of its patened pAgriSap Hydrogel superabsorbent polymers which have have the ability to absorb up to 147 times their own weight in liquid.
