Flood-hit farmers of DG Khan exempted from Abiyana

October 30, 2012: Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has announced package of financial assistance for the flood affectees of Southern Punjab under which Rs 40, 000 would be distributed among them in two equal instalments. This financial assistance would be distributed through Khadim-e-Punjab Card. He also announced to waive Abiyana and tax besides provision of free seeds for the next crop to the farmers in the areas declared calamity-stricken.

He was addressing flood affectees after offering Eid prayers in village Qalandar Bakhsh Ridhani, tehsil Rojhan of district Dera Ghazi Khan, says a hand out issued here on Monday. The Chief Minister also sacrificed animals and distributed Eid gifts among children. While addressing the flood affectees, the chief minister said that he will live and die with the people and no power on earth can keep him away from the poor and calamity-hit people.

The Chief Minister said that he had also celebrated his last Eid with the flood affectees and he is again with the calamity-hit brethren in Rojhan this year. He said that the Punjab government is carrying on rehabilitation work on priority basis. He directed the concerned authorities to expedite the pace of rehabilitation besides developing a mechanism for the distribution of financial assistance in a transparent manner. Member Provincial Assembly Sardar Atif Hussain Khan Mazari, Commissioner and District Co-ordination Officer of DG Khan, other concerned officers and elite of the area also accompanied the chief minister.
