Agriculture department confiscates fake 15,548kgs pesticides

5,727 samples of different pesticides during the on going campaign

October 14, 2012: Agriculture Department has confiscated 15,548 kilograms of fake pesticides worth over Rs 109 million and saving growers from huge financial loss during the on-going campaign of the Pest Warning and Quality Control wing. This was revealed at a meeting held on Saturday with the Punjab Minister for Agriculture Malik Ahmad Ali in the chair.

The meeting was also attended by the Director Pest Warning and Quality Control Malik Muhammad Fayyaz and other high ups besides representatives of the wing from other districts. The meeting was informed that the department had taken 5,727 samples of different pesticides during the on going campaign and sent to laboratory for analysis and taking action against the adulterated or fake pesticides, the department arrested 70 persons.
