Weekly Weather and Crop Bulletin (Volume 12, No. 29, 16th to 22nd July, 2012)

Monsoon system produced light to moderate rainfall reported from most of the agricultural plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north-eastern & coastal parts of Baluchistan, coastal parts of Sindh and Gilgit Baltistan & Kashmir during the last week

During the previous week the highest rainfall recorded at Jhelum as 113.2 mm

Extreme maximum temperature recorded as 47°C at Dalbandin (Balochistan) and Dadu (Sindh)

Overall this week observed as slightly wetter as well as cooler in comparison with the previous one, throughout the country

Thundershowers expected at isolated of places of Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions from Tuesday to Wednesday

Thundershower expected at scattered places of Southern KP on Tuesday and then from Friday to Saturday

Thunder/showers are likely to occur at isolated places of Kashmir on Wednesday

In this context of monsoon rains prediction, farmers are advised to ensure field sanitation and spray prophylactic fungicidal sprays to prevent spread of diseases on vegetables

especially those in central regions are advised to take up poultry rearing houses to maintain optimum room temperature and take care against the rapid changes in air temperature and relative humidity.
